After a decade rooted in Sassafras, we are embarking on the next phase of our Chojo journey. An exciting opportunity awaits as we relocate our nursery to @cloudehill.gardens in Olinda. Collaborating with @thediggersclub, deeply involved in Cloudehill's gardens, marks a pivotal moment in our career, and we've spent the past six months preparing for this transformative transition. Nestled 580 meters high in the Dandenongs, Cloudehill unfolds across five acres of exquisite volcanic soil. This region's unique blend of lower temperatures, higher humidity, and generous rainfall positions it among the world's premier areas for cool climate gardening. Dating back to the 1920s, Cloudehill's horticultural treasures include Beech trees from England, Kurume Azaleas from the USA, and Japanese Maples imported in 1928 from the renowned Yokohama Trading Nursery deeply rooted in the Japanese bonsai industry. The prospect of operating our nursery surrounded by trees with such rich histories is an extraordinary opportunity for us. Additionally, Chojo is venturing into a new chapter by acquiring a property to cultivate field-grown stock in an ideal environment, inspired by the Japanese tradition of field growing that has contributed to their well-developed bonsai culture. As a nursery, our focus extends beyond education to enhancing stock quality, elevating the standard of bonsai in Australia. In February 2024, we'll be reopening to grant our team a well-deserved break and ensure a meticulous transition. All existing bookings will seamlessly proceed at our new facilities. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the unwavering support of our clients, students, the Sassafras community, the teams at @cloudehill.gardens and @thediggersclub and of course the crew at Chojo. Reach out to the nursery for service requests or inquiries, and explore our website to make bookings for our classes and browse the online shop.
